Contractor’s Pollution
The Pollution Liability policies provide protection needed to pay damages on behalf of the Insured for any loss that an Insured is legally obligated to pay as a result of a “pollution event resulting from the Insured’s products or operations. A “pollution event” includes discharge, dispersal, release or escape of smoke, vapors, soot, fumes, acids, alkalis, chemicals, liquids or gases, waste materials or other irritants, contaminants or pollutants into or upon land, the atmosphere or watercourse or body of water. The Pollution Liability policies are written on a claims-made form. This means that the policy only covers claims made against the insured during the policy term. A claim made after the policy expires is not covered by a claims-made policy unless an extended reporting period covers the claim.
